    Description

    Vintage Chief Ouray (the arrow) of the Uncompahgre Utes.  This is from portrait by Joseph A. Imhof, Taos, N.M., hanging in Ouray Lounge of Grand Imperial, Silverton, Colorado.  Lithograph by William S. Henson.
    Most outstanding leader of his tribe.  Signed treaty between United States and Utes in Washington in 1868.  Great friend of Kit Carson and was noted for friendship with the whites.  Later years spent on farm in Colorado with Chipeta. Died there in 1880,   Unused postcard.  Light surface and edge wear.  Please email with questions.
