Offered is a stunning original photograph taken by the famous American photographer, George Bancroft Cornish, in 1909, depicting "TEXAS LONG HORNS" of Native Americana.The original photographs are in black and white with sepia tone (which was in fashion with the early 1900s photographs). The photographs are titled individually, with the copyright and date stamp of the photographer “GEO. B. Cornish, Arkansas City, Kansas”, on the lower left.
George Bancroft Cornish (1867 - 1946) was an early 20th century photographer of portraits and scenes from the American West including Native Americans and ranchers. He was based out of Arkansas City, Kansas. The Library of Congress has four of his images in their collection.The University of Kansas Libraries have a collection of his papers. In 1905 Cornish took over a studio in Arkansas, Kansas, from his mentor, famed Western American photographer William Prettyman (1858-1932). Cornish ran the store until his death in 1946. At some point he took these sublime portraits.
The measurement for each photograph is approximately 6” x 7.75” (15.24 cm x 19.7 cm). This marvelous antique 1909 is indeed very scarce and beside being unique, it is a true jewel for a serious American Indian art and treasury collector.
