Description
The Boeing 727-200 is the stretched version of the 727-100. The '200 is 20 feet longer that the '100. The first 727-200 flew on July 27th, 1967. The first delivery was to Northeast Airlines. As the aircraft evolved, a series of higher gross weights and more powerful engines were introduced along with other improvements. These 727-200's were dubbed "Adv" or advanced. The first "advanced" version was delivered in mid-1972. A total of 935 were produced.National Airlines was an American Airlines that operated from 1934 to 1980. The airline was headquartered at Miami International Airport. Founded in 1934, the airline was acquired by Pan American Airlines in 1980. The airline had 59 aircraft in service. National had 48 Boeing 727's in service from 1964 to 1980. A total of 27 of them were 727-200's.
This National Boeing 727-235 with registration number N4732, had its maiden flight on December 14, 1967. It was delivered to National on December 26, 1967. It flew under National colors until June of 1968 when it was sold to Trans World Airlines. It last flew with Delta Airlines beginning in August of 1991, where it flew until it was ultimately scrapped. (How very sad).
This beautiful 1:200 scale Gemini diecast reproduction of this aircraft is a highly detailed model with excellent National graphics. It has a chrome fuselage bottom, realistic metal landing gear and comes with a display stand. It has the beautiful National colors from the late 1960's to 1980.
